Today, the children from the Dingo Room had an enriching excursion to the supermarket on a sunny day. Before departing, Miss Heli discussed road safety and healthy eating, emphasizing awareness and making nutritious choices. The children walked together, displaying curiosity about their surroundings.
At the supermarket, under the guidance of Miss PohWee and Miss Heli, the children enthusiastically explored a vibrant array of fruits and vegetables. They engaged in hands-on observation, carefully examining the colours, textures, and shapes of different produce items. Encouraged to make their own choices, the children selected fruits and vegetables that caught their interest or that they had learned about previously. This activity fostered their decision-making skills and encouraged them to apply their knowledge of healthy eating in a practical context. It was delightful to witness their curiosity and excitement as they made thoughtful selections during this educational experience.
Each child used a card to pay for their selected fruits, learning about the transaction process firsthand. They eagerly received receipts, excited to see their purchases recorded, which added a practical element to their educational outing. This activity reinforced their understanding of how goods are purchased and also promoted independence and responsibility in managing simple transactions.
Throughout the day, the children’s enthusiasm and cooperation made the experience enjoyable and educational. They had an awesome and memorable opportunity to learn about food variety and safety, and also practiced social skills in a real-world setting.
